I hope everyone had a great Spring Break with your children.  They all came back today with lots of exciting stories to tell.

On Friday, the students will have a test over pronouns (a skill we will cover all week in Language Arts), as well as a test over Chapter 4 in their Oklahoma Social Studies book.  Again, this is something we will be doing a study guide on as well as reviewing in class.  Please be working with your children at home to develop good study skills.  This is something that will be vitally important as they enter middle and high school!  The earlier they learn them, the better.  In class, we have worked on making flash cards to memorize information.  As they sort through them they can have a "know" pile and a "don't know" pile.  I have taught them to go through all their cards and put them in one pile or the other.  Then, pick up the "don't know" pile and do the same thing, and repeat until everything is in the "know" pile, and then go through them one more time.  Some of your children may find this extremely helpful.  Others may learn best other ways, such as through writing or talking about it with someone else.  We work, in class, to discover which method works best for each child.

We are not starting a new novel in Reading class yet.  We're going to work on short stories this week from our Reading text book.  I'll let you know as soon as I select the next class novel.  I know some of you like to get a head start and check out the book to work on at home.

That's all my news for this week...have a good one!

About Mrs. Weaver

Education is my passion. This is my 4th year in the field of education, and my 2nd year at the wonderful Mustang Elementary.  I began my career teaching and coaching cheerleading at a middle school in Houston, Texas.

I am a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Business and Communication. However, after teaching English at a primary school in Tanzania, Africa I sought to further my education and pursue a teaching certificate.  I have loved every moment since.

I spent most of my life growing up in Texas. I moved to Oklahoma shortly after marrying my husband, Justin, a native "Okie" and also a Mustang Elementary former student. We now happily reside in Mustang with our dog, Sadie, and our ferret, Fez.
